MAGISTERIAL, FRIDAY. (Before Mr Wyvern Wilson, S.Jt) DRUNKENNESS. A first offender was fined ss, in default 24 hours' imprisonment. . THEFT. , Robt. Rogers, aged* 43 years, appeared on remind on a. charge ol eioien a carpenter's • plane, valued 'at £1 15s, and a clock valued at £3 10s. Accused was convicted and sentenced to seven days' imprisonment on each charge, the sentences to be concurrent. IN OTHER PLACES. PRISONERS SENTENCED. (press association telegram.) WELLINGTON, November 10. In the Supreme Court this morning, Maurice Tangney for. attempting to obtain ioOO by false pretences, was sentenced to eighteen months' reformative detention. The prisoner asked to be discharged, undertaking to leave New Zealand where he could never do any good in view of the police attitude towards him. Benjamin Jones, who figured in the Pe--tone shooting aensation. in August last, was sentenced to five years' imprisonment with hard labour. The prisoner fired four shots at two constables who were executing a distress warrant.
