A GREAT OHRISTCHUROH INDUSTRY. The first stand on the left on ing the Show ground is indeed one ot" the most interesting. It shows how the industries of the Dominion can be built up and developed. In this case we have a splendid exhibit—one of interest to all passing—K)f disinfectants, each one of which had- toeen made in Christchurch, and out of coal tar. , Among the many items of which samples are shown, the most prominent are the splendidly got-up drums of sheep dip—The Kyltie—which is fast making a name for itself as a firstclass dip. Its price (is it not manufactured dip bearing no charges outside the colony?) is 82s 6d per sgal. drum. The dip, Mr Rattle informed our representative, is growing rapidly in popularity and the British Distillate are hard at work coping with the demand. Bettle'B Disinfectanjb Fluid, also neatly got up, is also meeting _ with growing favour. The price of thisdisj infectant, 7s a single gallon and 6s 3d 4gal., brings it within the reach of everyone. The Carbolic Powder is cheap and good. "Pomsol," the firm a great fruit tree spraying oil, is also in keen demand, while the black paint, Inertol, is being found invaluable, for dry rot,' all sorts of farm use. Its price ib 7s s single gallon, or 686 d for a 4gal tin. Cabinet-makers will also be interested in the manufacture of different wood stains. This stain » being almost universally used for Btaining the hoardings of Chandlers tising Agents throughout the Dominion. This should be a proof of the value of these stains. People should see for themselves the variety of disinfectants, cubettes, naphthalene, a beautiful white drawn, we are assured, out of black coal,tar. Altogether the exhibit, is of a most valuable nature as showing what can be done by; local brains with local material and local capital. • ■ ■■ " -
