FIGHTING IN MEATH AND MAYO.

National troops were parading at Mornington, County Meath, when a withering machine-gun and rifle fire was opened from the canal bank on the western side, and the housetops on the east, A fierce fight raged' for two hours, after which the attackers were silenced. One Nationalist soldier was killed and twenty seriously wounded, and several of the attackers were wounded and six captured. A vanman who was conveying meat to the barracks was shot dead, and a child which was going to school was wounded. The troops captured a machine-gun. Free State troops opened an intouso machine-gun and rifle fire on the irregulars' stronghold at Foxford, County Mayo. The rebels were forced to flee, seven being killed and many wounded.
