MEETINGS AND SOCIALS.

ARANUI BURGESSES' ASSOCIATION. The first annual meeting of the^^nui Burgesses' Association was held on Wednes day The chair was occupied by the presi dent, Mr C. H. Ashton and there was a lar»e attendance of members and residents. The annual report and the balance-sheet, showing a credit balance of £52 16s Bd, were adoptel. Twenty-one new members were elected. The election of officers resulted Patron,MrH. F. Stevens; Coi A. E. Loach; vice-presidents, Messrs F. B Hughes and F. James; eecretary, Mr J. Brooke-Taylor; treasurer Mr J. D. Sproaen; executive committee, Messrji Venner, Newmatt, Rowlands, Lovell-Smith, Rowse, and 'Mrs Venner; social committee, Ashton, Lovell-Smith, Moody and Nankevill, and Mesdameß Newman and Loach, It was decided to purchase a section in Breezes road for a hall site, and Messrs Loach, Venner, Newman, and Lovell-Smith were elected to make the necessary arrangements.

•WALTHAM SCHOOL COMMITTEE. At the monthly meeting of the "Waltham School Committee there were present—Mr E. Gasson (chairman), Mrs E. Milton, Messrs T. Mortlock, E. Smith, E. Shier J. Shier, W. Symons, and H. Hill. A motion of condolence wafl passed to Mr W. R. Patrick, a member of the committee, on the death of his mother. Correspondence was received from Mr C. Bourke, the newly elected head master, to the effect that he would commence his duties on June Ist. J. Sri E. Shier, and E. Smith were appointed the Visiting Committee for the ensuing two months.

LINWOOD SCHOOL COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the Linwood School Committee was held on Wednesday might, rrasent —Messrs i£. i? 1 . Herbert W. H. Denton, H. J. Bowlker, H. Macintosh, G. Phillips, R. H. Wilson, W. S. Young, and J. Lindley (hon. v sec,). -The .chairman wel-comed-new members. . Mr Douds (headmaster) presented a favourable attendance/report. It was decided to ask - the Education Board for three new clocks for'the new class-rooms.. It was decided to Hoid a concert *in June to raide funds for a new bicycle shed, ae tlia present accommodation is totally inadequate. The committee decided to plant a new laurel fenc© on part of tho school frontage, and various other improvements will bo triien in hand.
