In his sworn statement, bankrupt said he j had'been in business in Christchurch for the past twelve months, as a motorcar engineer. He had no money* to start with, and as .be km out of work he had to etart abuaiitessto ears . a living. . H*> rented the premises at 23i.St.Aflaph street, and commenced work with his own tools. No capital wa6 ,required, as it was: simply a repair business. Since Christmas work add been gradually decreasing, owing to the slump, and he had difficulty in getting his accounts in. He was foroed to-file on account of a distress warrant having been issued against him by one! of the creditors. , Mr Bunnell explained* that the bankrupt had bought a house anet'pToperty on. the hire purchase system. There was an equity of <143 on it. Mr Goodman said that tenders had better be 1 called for the property, and perhaps £7O might be realised oh it. It was decided to leave the realisation of the assets in the hands of the Assignee. This furniture was given, to bankrupt's wife.
