WATER SUPPLY BOARD.
WAIMAEAEIBI-ASHLEY. The Waimakaiiri-Ashle'y "Water Supplr Board met on Thursday. Present—Messrs Jas. Brown (chairman), G. ,F. Wayland,! F. A. Sheat, J. Waller, and. H. F. Luera. The monthly report from the caretaker and rangors, which was satisfactory, was adopted. Mr Sheat g&vo a- detailed report of an inspection ho had made of water-races, together with the ranger, which proved that some of the races were in a very neglected and dirty state. It was decided that- legul proceedings should bo taken in future against some of the ratepayers in the lower end of the water-race district unless their races were kept clean. Mr> Sheat inado several recommendations as to the best way of dealing with races and flumes in certain properties, all of which were approved by the. Board, and he was jthanked for his report. Mr H. F. Luers brought up the subject o£ the Board contributing a small sum towards the. cost of a boulster which Mr Gibeon in putting in the river Eyre, and which will help to protect the Board's main water, race near the 'Warren homestead. It was agreed to grant the sum of £2. The matter of obtaining old tram rails for the purpose of anchoring willows for tho protection of tho headworks main race was discussed,, and it was left to Mce&ra Waller and Brown to obtain what they thought necessary to enable tho Board to go ahead j-ith, th» protection wort,
