. —♦ —— FLYING MILE CHAMPIONSHIP. The Pioneer Sports Club held tho flying mile championship at North Beach on Saturday afternoon. There were only four competitors, two or thfee other riders having to. default owing to other circumstances. There waa a strong cross-wind throughout the competition, and Mh> soft state of the beach reduced speed by about ten miles per hour in theopiniona of the riders. Each, competitor was given two trials over a measured mile, with a flying start, and tho results Wcro as follow:—
