The Maddison trophy competition, which represents the single handed , championship of the Christchurch Centre, will be commenced on the Chriptctmrch green on Thursday, the first round starting at noon. AKAJROA CLUB. At a general meeting' of the Afcaroa Bowllug Club, the president., Mr W. W. Williams, in the chair, the balance-sheet in connexion with the recent electric light tournament submitted. This c }io\vnd that the receipts totalled £B3 3s Id and Sper.ses,, inclusive of cost of erection of posts imc? installation of light x £IG 16s 7d, leaving a credit balance of £36' Es £d. The balanco-sheet was approved and very hearty vote 3 of thanks; were accorded all workers at tho tournarneTit, a special tribute being piid to Messrs J. E. Newton and Alfred Rhodes. It was decided that the club retain the installation rs permanent, and it was ajrreed, further, that hours cf play by elrctrio light be from 7 p.m. to-10 'p.m., and a charge of -6d pcr-player per game to bo made, the money so raised to be devotod to .the pavilion fund, Messrs H.' L. Capea, L. W. Hay ward, and W. B. Hettrick weTe appointed, a sub-committee to supervise arrangements for evening play. ■ Appreciation was expressed of Mr J. R. Newton's work, in drawing up plans of a pavilion for tho club's guidance. ' , . , ■
