The steamer TalvUan brings details of a shipping strike in China. It started on January 3rd and was in full Swing when the Taiyuan left Hongkong on February 24th. Over 160 vessels were tied Up "and coastal shipping was completely paralysed, though there were signs that the strikers could not hold 6ut much longer. The chief cause of the trouble was a demand for increased wages, up to SO per oent. in some cases.
