The severity of Sunday's gala at sea i<s reflected tliis morning in unusually large numbers of sea-gulls on certain playing areas of the city (says Mutiny's Auckland "Star"). buds were evidently driven from the usual haunts by the strong w'nds and jam that made yesterday and one of the moat severe periods wetave passed through for some Domain the green sward was dotted with large patches o/ white, the snow whiteness of the birds' wings sending out in the dull atmosphere. A feature of the bird life was tho number of mollvhawks, a larger percentage than usual. Not a few of the tarda were weather-beaten, their, wmgs drooping, and many were hopping about on one leg. The bowling green in Grafton road also had its share of feathered life from the sea, but not in such large numbers as on the Domain,
