RAKAIA DOMAIN BOARD.
The annual meeting of the Hakaia Domain Board was held on Tuesday afternoon. There were present—Messrs C. A. C. Hardy (chairman), T. Blackley, A. J. W. F. Magson, G. S. Hardy, and J. McLean. The report and balance-sheet as presented were adopted'. Tho Hon. C. A. C. Hai'Jy was again nominated for chairman and unanimously elected. He briefly returned thanks. Mr A. A. Oliver waited on the Board as a deputation from, the Cricket Club and requested the Board's help in levelling the cricket ground.. The - undertook to spen-.l £1 for £l. After discussion the Board agreed to pay a subsidy of £ per £ up to a total expenditure of £IU, the Cricket Club to do the work. A letter was received from Mh: A. A. Oliver with reference to the establishment of saud pits, ewings; etc. Consideration of the matter was deferred. A letter was received from Mr J. S. Shannon, secretary of the Rakaia Swimming Club, pointing out the inadequacy of the present shed accommodation. Large numbers of la-lies and girls, not members of any swimming club, at present have to undress under trees. Consideration of the matter was de-. ferred. The chairman reported' having visited the Domain in company with the Ashburton Hospital authorities, and that matters in connexion with tho establishment of a Maternity Home wero well under way. ■
