T. CROMPTON AND SONS' PICNIC.
The employees of Messrs Thos. Crompton and Sons held their annual picnic at Kairaki Beach on The weather was perfect, and the party, trpnsported by motors, numbered over a. hundred. An interesting (■•ports programme was provided, and the numerous events were keenly contested with tho following resxilts : Crompton's Handicap—L. Coulter 1, V. Hogg 2. '. . Coulter and Mrs KibKlewhite. ■ Married Men's Handicap—A. I>avis 1, L. Coulter 2. _ Boys' Race—B. Blyth 1. Girls' Race—R. Crompton 1 Men's Sack Race—C. James 1. Ladies' Sack Race—Miss Thompson l. 1 Three-legged Race —C. BrSlgea and Miss Bridges 1. Nail-driving Competition^—Mrs Matthews I, Hrs Boynon 2. Sticking the Pig (ladies) —Mr® L. Wilson 1. Sticking, the Pig (men)—W. Brough 1. Guessing Competition—Mrs Ryder 1, L. James 2. Drivers' Race—H. Mortlock 1. Tug-of-war—Drivers 1. At the conclusion of the .'porta, the prizes were presented bv Mrs W. R. Crompton, and in a happy speech Mr Crompton thanked all present for assisting towards 'the success of tho picnic. Mr H. Dollan 6uitablv replied on behalf of the employees, and mentioneu the good feeling that existed between. the firm and its staff.
