Royal Box has made considerable improvement under the care of Dr. Ring/although still bein» in a pretty bad way (says Whalebone). The swelling of the leg has been got rid of, but the serious trouble is in the hip, the point of which was broken, and it is still too early to judge wnat tho ultimate result of the injury will be. ' Mr A. Gibbons had a stroke of bad luck recently, tijs three-year-old filly by Boniform —Northern Rose falling into a drain and dying (writes Whalebone in the "Auckland Star"). The filly was broken in as a two-year-old, and showed exceptional promise, but it was decided -to give her every chance to develop and not race- her until ahe was a three-yeai'-old. She was to have joined the team of J. Lambess shortly, and her loss is a pretty severe one for her owner. for four trotting events at the Geraldine R.C.'s Spring Meeting close on Monday.
