A meeting of the various Ohrifitchurdh. musical societies, interested m the new Serb hall held on Thursday, when representatives of the i attended :-Boyal Musical Society, Liedertafel, Orchestral Society Stale Voice Oboir,. The suggestion was unanimously , Charles Clnrkflo? stated that.an announcement wyuld bo made ot ™ Male Voice • Choir's concert on Saturday, and every effort made to secure the support of their membership. _ Mr. B. S. Knox suggested that all performing members of the various societies should get busy on Thursday j next and bting every ratepayer to the of the proposed concert hail! were laid before the meeting. t , . i ' Mr "\V. H. Johnston said it. would be better to withhold criticism of details and concentrate ,on the successful issue ° f Mr E. Scott suggested that the members present should, in the event of the poll being carried—and he tort sure it would be—wait upon the Oounoil, and ask that their suggestions bo considered. MrT. F. Hall referred to tlhe exoessive charges paid by the Christchureh Competitions. Society for the use or the Theatre Boyal last season. Messrs Hall and OWen were deputed to look after the publicit;; campaign. j Reference was made to the Mayor a meeting 'held in the Chamber of Commerce Hall on Wednesday, and regret was' expressed that the notice calling the meeting had been 1 overlooked by those present. Dr. Thacker was commended for liis enthusiasm in connexion with the concert chamber.
