WOOLSTON MAYORALTY.
MB McGEEGOB WRIGHT ELECTED.
The election of a new Mayor of Woolston, t 0 fill the office rendered vacant by the death of Mr <3. S. White, was conducted yesterday. There were two candidates, Mr 0. HSU, who was Mayor prior to Mr White's election, and Mr McGregor B. Wright, a' former Mayor of Woolston for several terms, and an old and respected resident of the district. A fair amount of interest was taken in the election, and over 1000 votes were polled. The booths closed at 7 p.m., and the final results were announced by the returning officer, Mr O. Machattie, before a large crowd of electors by 7.30 p.m. Cheers greeted the statement that Mr McGregor Wright was returned. Details of the polling were as follows:—•
Totala ... 404 660 Mr McGreW Wright, speaking after the declaration of the poll, returned thanks for the confidence placed in him. He would as Mayor do his best for the district and was glad to know that he had been of .some email service, to the borough in the past.
