"WELLINGTON v. CANTERBURY".

Two interprovincial Jiockey matches were played at Lancaster Park on Saturday. Tbo weathet was ideal, but there was .a very small attendance. JUNIOR 3IA2UH. The first match started at I.SO p.m., between the junior representatives from Wellington, who wore the challengers for tbo Zanol Cup, and the' local junior eleven. The match produced some good hockey 1 and the local team showed better combination, prov-' ing the cleverer team, and eventually won by three goals to nil. Messrs C. Bellamy and W. Simpson were referees. • SENIOR MATCH. The senior match was played on the Oval at tho conclusion of the junior game. The teams were as follows: — Wellington (Yellow and' Black)— Goal: R. Hyndruan; backs: F. Sherwocit and. E. Harris; halves: C. Martin, P. Armstrong, and W. Trilford: forwards: G. Hoed, E. Heaphy, A. Stratton, S. Hood, and i\ Watchman. Canterbury (Red and Blaok) —Goal: H. Snooks; backs.: P. Martin and E. Smith; halves: S, Pascoe, S. Mander, and B. Morris; forwards: R. Sheriffs, S- 8011, H. Bell W. Bell, and F.. Faulkner. Referees: Messrs S. G.'Holland! and W. Canterbury opened, and quickly reached tho visitors' circlo, where Sherwood intercepted and relieved. The home 'team returned, and H. Bell and SherriSs had unsuccessful shots, which were stopped by Hyndman. Wellington secured, and swept down to Canterbury's twenty-five, but Martin cleared to half-way. Hood and Watchman headed another Wellington attack, and Canterbury were forced. A ooupk of penalty corners woro fruitless, and the Canterbury backs cleared onco more. Tho Wellington forwards made a combined advance movement, and Heaphy sent in a hot shot, which was well stopped by Snooks. Plav havered in midfield for a short spell, and then the local forward* gained possession, and rushed into the visitors circle, b. .Bell opened Canterbury's score. Tho game was looolised in Wellington's oirole for a. spoil, but Hyndman and Sherwood effected a clearance, and once more Canterbury were forced to defend their circle, until Maxtm gave relief by hitting out. The Canterbury _ forwards secured at half-way, hut a promising movement was, spoilt by a breach, and tho free-hit gave relief to tho visitors. Hood and Watchman headed a rush which reached the homo circle, and half-time blew with the score: — .
