The Westland Hospital Board yesterdiv presented Dr. Teiche mann, who Slv retired from hospital work, after 24 years' aa/vice, with a dressmgcale as a tokl of appreciation and esteem. ,

There was a large gathering of police officers at the police barracks last evening, when members of the force bade farewell to ex-Superintendent Dwvor, who has retired on superannuation. Superintendent Hendry, ChiefDetectivo "Mollvcney, Sergeant 11. C. Brien, Constable Hammond, ,of limaru, nonstable Hannafin, of Upper Riccarton .Mid Constable Smythe, of the Macisirate's Court staff, all spoke in eulogistic terms of Mr Dwyer's services and of his unfailing fairness and encouragement to members of the force, to whom, all the speakers remarked, lie had alwavs shown the greatest goodwill and on'behalf of the force, Superintendent Hendry presented to Mr Divyer a wallet containing £SO. Mr Dwver, in a feeling speech, expressed his'thanks, and also expressed his regret at severing connexion with his many friends in the force, all of whom had always given him the greatest assistance.
