U.S. SHIPPING BOARD.
CUTTING LOSSES. (Bv Cable—Frees Association—CepTrigii.) (Australian tnd N.Z. Cable. Association.) ' (Received June 12th, 5.5 p.m.) WASHINGTON. June 10. The Administration will accept as unavoidable the loss of two billion dollars of the three billions spent on shipbuilding during the Avar period. The fleet is valued at one billion dollars. It is futile to place a value higher, and the ships will W operated on this basis by 1 the/new Shipping Board, which will aim to get the Government out of the business as soon as possible. Plans are being made for the sale of the shipping at actual valuation.
