A London message says Sir Robert Stout was sworn in on Friday as ft Privy Councillor. Mr D. -\I. Shirlaw, M.A., first assistant-master at the Linwood School, iias boon appointed headmaster of tho Waimniri School. • Mr A. "\Y. Hall, accountant at the Blenheim branch of the Bank of Ne»v Zealand for the last three years, has received notice of pronation to Gisborne. The retirement of Mr R. S. S. M., on reaching the ngo limit of 65 years, will take place shortly. Mr Florance at present holds the appointment of Registrar of Deeds, Examiner of Titles, and District Land Registrar at Gisborne. The "Marlborough Express'' states: It is understood that Mr W. T. Esson, formerly account at the Blenheim branch of the Bank of New Zealand, and who has been accountant at Christchurch for the last eight months, is to be appointed assistant-mauager at Christchurch. Major W. A. G. Penlington, Director of Vocational Training, -will take over the immediate control of snlint, artificial limb, and surgical boot-making workshops belonging to the Defence Department, in addition to vocational training, and will in future be designated as Director of Training and Surgical Workshop.
