OIL-BURNING STEAMER.
(FMSS ASSOOWIOK TXCBOBAK.) WELLINGTON, February 2. TheR.M.S. Tahiti is the first oil-burning vessel to receive her "bunker" supplies at Wellington, the oil being drawn from the ex-hulk Addersley, which was converted into an oil tanker by the Union Steam Ship Company some six months ago. The operations were completed in a little under twelve hours. In that time some 600 tons of oil were transferred to the liner at the rate of between 50 and 60 tons per hour. From a coal-bunkering point of view the Tahiti is looked upon as a "long job,'' so that the time saved by her new system is very considerable.
