Indirectly, however. I have heard that the executive of the Miners' Federation considers that an agreement has been arrived at ns to the setting up of the Board, but I have not yet got it officially. The continuation of- the "go-slow" •. policy at the Northern Coal Company's mine at Kiripaka culminated to-day in the mine closing indefinitely. Recently the liquidator of the company visited the mine and entered into an arrangement whereby tihe men undertook to produce over 100 tons, per day, and: in the meantime to communicate wi& the Federation on the question of discontinuing the "go-slow" policy. The Federation replied that "go-slow" • was to continue, and yesterday evening the manager informed the men that they must either call off the "go-slow" policy or take their tools out of the mine. . The men adopted the latter course, and 50 are now out of work The "go-slow" policy at the three Waikato mines was still being continued yesterday.
