PUBLIC TRUST OFFICE.
PROPOSED NEW BUILDING. Plans 'have been prepared for the erection of a new building for the Publio Trust Office, business has assumed such lately that the present office in' Gloucester street has become inadequate. The Minister of Public Works, the Hon. J. G. Coates, told a "Press" reporter that he had 6een the plans yesterday afternoon. They provided, he said, for a building which would bo the best of its kind yet erected in the Dominion. The ediiico would bo four stories in height, and would be constructed of Southland stone with red Btone on the top. The offices -would be on the island system, with a passage right round the building, enabling the public easily to find any particuJait office they wanted. Provision would also be made for the clerks in the main office to be in view of an official all the time. The building would bo erected on the latest system, particular attention being paid to bghting and ventilatino. The cost{ would probably l>o from £60,000 to £70,000. A site for the proposed building has been purchased in Oxford terrace, adjoining tho Clarendon Hotel and facing the Avon.
