A SUSPECTED CASE OF SMALLPOX.

AUCKLAND, January 31: The Shrnv, Savill steamer waiwera, which arrived to-day from Britain, via South African ports, Newcastle, and fcydncy, has been quarantined, and at member of the crew isolated on Motuihi Island. His complaint has been diagnosed as alastriin, which Dr. Hughes, the Medical Inspector of HeSth, states is supposed to be a mild form of smallpox. J*o other suspected case is on board, but all on board the vessel have been vaccinated. The mails from the United Kingdom and Australia, whidh are on the vessel, will not be handled until she has a clear bill of health.
