The manager of the Sydenham Pictures applied to the City Council last night for permission to give a programme, on Saturday night, December 25th. Cr. A. Williams moved that the application be refused, on the ground that the picture show employees should have a clear day off on Christmas 3>ay. Cr. Langley: Is that your real reason P Or. Williams: That is on© of my reasons. Cr. Armstrong said the permit, if granted, would ■ mean giving o special privilege to one show. The motion was carried. . THOUSANDS OF CHILDREN RECEIVE !
