GENERAL LABOURERS' BfSPUTE. An application for a, new agreement relating to the work n-nd pay of .general laborers camo before the Conciliiition Council yesterday. Mr W. Saunders, and H. Worra'.l. In tlso matter of hours of work, the pr** visions in the old award were agreed to with modifications, clauses reeling to goaviorkers being struck out, ojid a new clause inserted providing that outside a mjie radiua tlio houi-3 of work should be by mutual arrangement between the parties. Wages were fixed as follows: —Tuanelmen at tunnel'ing work, timber work, or sinking shafts over ten feet, and men in charge of derricks or scaffolding over 16ft from base, 2a 3d including 5d bonus. AU other classes of labour 23, including 6d bonus. Overtime —First 'Three hours, tirao and a half, thereafter double time. "Wages to»bo paid weekly, and beyond the ten milo limit, week.y, or ils agreed. Double time for Sundays or holidays. Wet work 2s 6d per day extra ox gum boots to be provided. Suburban work, clause in old award accepted. Country work, 5s daily extra, or board and lodging to be provided by employer. Tho awapl is to operate for two years from. November Ist.
