FRIDAY. (Before Mr V. .G. Day, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. Three Srst offenders were cash convicted and fined ss, in default 24 hours' imprisonment. DISMISSED. « A charge agoiust Martin Crosbie Moron, of having stolen a bicycle valued at £10, vraa dismissed. OBSCENE LANGUAGE. On a charge c.f~ having U3ed obscene language in Winchester street, John Joseph Mulheissn Arnold was convicted and fined £5, in default a month's imprisonment. BY-LAW CASES. James Stewart, on a charge of having damaged a bicycle by driving on the wrong side oi tho street, was ordered to pay costs, amounting to £2 lis, and £10 in respect of the b'icyc.e. For cycling at night -without lights, Charles A. Aston wis convicted and ordered to pay costs, 7s. Percy Haze'dean was fined £2 for exceeding the ipeed limit. On nimilar charges, Arthur Lancelot' Cyril Watkins was lined £3, and Charles Henry Jones ordered to pay costs, 7s. Tho last-named was also ordered to pay 7s costs for having failed to notify the change of ownership of a motor vehicle. George Rutherford, similarly charged, was fined 10s. John "Walker was fined 5s with coats for having failed to show his tramwav ticket when requested to do so, and H. Parry, lor having failed to tender his fare, was fined 10s with costs, the latter being also fined a similar sum for having used threatening behaviour. John Tiscli, chargcd with infringing bylaw 22 of tho Selwyn County Council, by failing to c'.ear growing matter from a v/aterraco, was fined £1 and co-ts. DECISION RESERVED. Further evidence was taken in tho case between Harold Dean Greenwood and Sophie Greenwood (Mr R. Twyneham) v. James M. Kelly (Mr F. W. Johnston), a claim for damages amounting to £198 log ed, as a result ,of a motor collision. The Magistrate reserved his decision. ASHBURTON. (Before Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M.) John Hunt, who pleaded guilty to tho theft of a bicycle va'.ued at £5, was sentenced to two months' imprisonment. James Joseph Dolan, who pleaded guilty to procuring liquor during the currency*of a prohibition order, was fined 10a. Thomas Morland, who did not appear, was fined 20s and costs for epeeding at Tinwald. In a civil action, L. Newan v. F. Robinson, claim £6 13s, judgment was given for plaintiff with costs.
