POLITICAL NOTES
(special to "the frkss.") WELLINGTON, July 11. Settling to Work. It has been a dull week-end about Parliament, most of tho members haring gone to their homes. This week tho House will begin to tackle the business of the session. Local Bills and a number of Government Bills will no doubt see the light. The Budget. The Budget will not be presented i'or at least a fortnight, and there will, no doubt, be a lengthy debate on what it contains and what it does not contain. Some of the old political hands having little elso to criticise, have been endeavouring to make a little capital out of the want of policy in tho GovernorGeneral's Speech, knowing % V ell enough that policy is never disclosed to any extent in that document. Some of the new members have innocently and ineffectively followed their lead, but the Government has remained unperturbed, as have also thoso of the public who know anything of the routine of Parliament-, for they are well aivara that the Budget will contain the policy of the Government.
