THE PRINCE AND HIS FURNITURE.
Few ware privileged to see the private apartment of the Prince of Wales during his stay in Christchurch. However, the veil of secrecy 'J.'s been drawn aside, and the Furniture and Furnishings of the Prince's Bedroom may now be seen in tho large window at Messrs A. J. "White's.
The suite is a classical Jacobean design in dark o-nk. The rather severe lines and angle panels are offset by the graceful twist ipiral legs and mirror sun ports. 'the colour scheme of the Furnishings is Old Roso with Blade Satin Pipings. This colour is used for the easy-chair, curtains, arid bed-hangings; also for the silk down guilt. It is interesting to note that Messrs A. J. White, Limited, were responsible not only for the making of the furniture, brib for all the fumishings as well. The present exhibit is an exact replica of the room as used by tho Prince, including the fine furniture, super-Wilton carpet, and curtains. A portion of the window has been arranged with the furnishings of the Prince's dais from the ballroom. Tho furniture in this case is dark oak upholstered in gold brocade, a very rich effect being secured. The fact that such important work should be entrusted to Messrs A. J. White's, Ltd., and the success achieved speaks well for the organisation and equipment of this well-known firm. 6
