EXPORT OF PRODUCE.

FAEMEES FAVOUR OWN SHIPS.

(special to. "the press.**}

AUCKLAND, May 523.

A remit from tho Auckland Farmers' Union Executive, "That, in tho opinion of tho conference, the producers of tho Dominion sould take immediate steps to provide their own shipping," inet with a very favourable reception at tho Farmers' Union conference this morning. Mr Jas. Boddio (president), in submitting tho remit, said it was the only rational course open to the producers of the Dominion. It would moan that they would not have to go to other sources for freight. He pointed out that the shipping combines would not reduce the freight charges. Mr Harding _ suggested that tho words, "in conjunction with the Government," should be inserted after tho word "producers" in the remit.

This alteration was accepted by the mover and seccnder, and bracfcoted with several other remits pertaining to tho matter, and, after further lengthy discussion, the proposal was put to the meeting, and carried almost unanimously.
