Tho conference of producers and freezing companies to deal with tho problems of the meat export trade of the future was coucluded to-day. A number of resolutions were agreed to by tho corf ference, but these are to bo submitted to the -Government before being made public. It was discovered at the conference that any attempt to deal with tho complex questions involved by such a largo meeting was doomed to failure, and jt was partly as a result of this discoveiy that tho decision was mado to set op a committee to deal with detail and to submit a scheme to the Government set. tin": out the recpiircmonts of ihe farmers and the companies. It was decided that tho committee should consist of tea members, four to be nominated by the producers, two by tho freezing companies, and two by the Government, with two representatives of tho banking institutions. It is understood that ono of the Government nominees is to be a Droducer.
• The order of reference for tho committee is not yet available. It will be wido enough to permit of the committee dealing fully with all the problems facing the meat industry at present.
