REV. FATHER TIGHE

The death is announced of tho Rev. Father Tighe, S.J., who frequently visited New Zealand.
A Hastings telegram states that Mr Hugh Campbell, a pioneer settler who died yesterday at Havelock North, was bora in 1853 in Scotland. He arrived in New Zealand twenty years later, and was employed near Timaru, but later on he removed to Hawke's Bay, where he became a land-owner. He took an active part in local affairs, being one of the founders of lona College. He leaves a widow, three sons, and two daughters, two other sons having been killed at the war. The death is reported of Mr David Allan, of C-ollingwood, a very old settler, at the age of 92. The late Mr Allan was born at Edinburgh, Scotland. He served an apprenticeship to the grocery trade, and came with his young wife to New Zealand in the ship Lady Nugent, and landed in Nelson in 185i>. HOLIDAY PACKING.
