GAOL. -4 (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND, June 10. Hcnrv Aloysius Murphy was. sentenced to fourteen days' li.ird labour for having failed to make application for enrolment iu the First Division of the reserves under the Military Service Act. Accused arrived from Australia on February sth. lie informed the Court that he voted against militarism, and that the anti-militarists had done more for democracy than all the soldiers who went to Europe. ( Mr Wilson, S.M., said that accused's | offence was evidently deliberate, j On the latter remarking that he had ; a strong antipathy to paying fines, the Magistrate said: "You will have no | option. Fourteen days' hard labour."
