A MEMORIAL DIVISION
A despatch has been received from the Colonial Offico intimating that there is to be established a Momorial Division of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.
In making this announcement, the Minister of Internal Affairs (tho Hon. G. W. Russell) said that the Order would "bo open to all branches of the war service which, but for tho creation of those departments, would have been performed by the War Offico. Persons already appointed to the Ordor who are qualified for the military division will be transferred to it from the lists which have T>een published. The insignia of the civil And the military divisions will bo the same, but the military ribbon will bo ed by a vertical rod stripe in the middle of tho existing ribbon.
