FARMERS WILL HOLD BIG

DEMONSTRATION AT DARFIELD

Next Thursday week, May loth, the Dai'field branch of the Now Zealand Fanners' Union will hold a grand tractor demonstration and fuel consumption test at Darfield, with the object of obtaining data on which to decide whether tractors will replace horses for farm work. The farm tractors will be required to work under conditions with which farmers are conversant, so that a proper comparison with horse-team work can be made. Among other items there will be a straight-out test of seven hours' ploughing. All the leading makes of farm tractors have entered, so much valuable information will be available to every farmer who attends this demonstration. The farm tractor is plaving an important part in agricultural pursuits in other parts of the world, and the Darfield branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union are to be congratulated on their enterprise in arranging this public demonstration to decide the suitability of tractors to New Zealand farming conditions. Thanks to the energy of Mr Mulholland. secretary oi* the Darfield Farmers' Union, satisfactory arrangements are now completed, and there should be a larre attendance of farmers at Dnrficld on May 15th. 6
