YESTERDAY'S RESULTS

The ninth anntial festival of the Christchurch Literary and Uusical Competitions Society was continued yesterday, there being good attendances at all iho sessions. In the evening the Theatre Royal was crowded, when eome interesting finals were decided. Following are yesterday's results: — PIAXO SOLO, "Romance," from 3rd Russian Album (Glievel. Final. Tho judge eaid the first prize-winner handled her piece very cleverly, her facial work being very good. He emphasised the j fact that unconscious humour had great ! charm, and was one of the greatest gifts a ! performer could possess. CHILDREN'S CHORUS. Under 12. Minimum 12 voices. Final. MHuldren (Spreydon), Kiss Elsie Brewins (Richmond). Mr Osborn said that, speaking generally, tho performers in this section showed a lack of scansion and a tendency to overemphasis. There was also noticeable a bad habit of breaking phrases and a small idea of the value of the pause. The winner give a good performance.
