EPIDEMIC COMMISSION.
Mr D; McLaren added
Tho Hon. G. W. Russell (Minister of Public Healtn) stated on Saturday that Mr D. McLaren had been appointed as the third member of the Commission which is to inquire into the opidemic; The other are Sir John Denniston (who retired from the Supreme Court Bench) and the Hon. E. Mitchelson.
Mr McLaren was a member of the First Wellington Military Service Board. He had a term as member for Wellington East in tho House of Representatives, and «'!,? Mayor of Wellington.
Mr Russell remarked that tho appointment of Mr McLaren -was practically a recognition of the right of Labour to he represented on a Commission which -would deal with many matters of deep interest to the masses of the people. The order of reference would be submitted to Cabinet at the first full meeting after the holidays. Probably the Commission would begin its sittings during the holidays.
