RELEASE OF A MILLION TONS. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright., WASHINGTON, -December 20. Arrangements are being made in Paris to release a million tons of shipping for the use of the American export trade; in order to aid American industries to return to their pre-war footing. STATEMENT BY SIR THOMAS MACKENZIE. LONDON, December 20. Sjr Thomas Mackenzie, speaking in London, said that much normal export trade will soon return. The shipping problem was working out satisfactorily, About twenty ships would be available in December and January, and the situation for April and May was most promising. The whole of the refrigerated tonnage, formerly in the New Zealand trade, whicii had been diverted for war purposes to the North Atlantic, was now Being released.
