CATALONIAN DEPUTIES WITHDRAW. AN OMINOUS ACT. , (By Cable. —Press Association.—Copyright) (Renter's Telegrams.) , (Received December 17th, 7.23 p.m.) MADRID, December 16. The Catalonian deputies in tho Spanish Parliament withdrew in a body. The leader, Senor Cambo, explained thati his followers were obliged to leave and seek under a new regime consideration of their demands. This ominous act means a revolt of the Catalonians, whose demand for autonomy -was ono of the causes of tho recent Ministerial crisis, and may possibly foreshadow the overthrow of tho monarchy.
Catalonia, an ojd principality of Spain, triangular m shape, occupying the north-eastein portion of tho peninsula, is now divided into the provinces of Barcelona, Tarragona, Lerfda, and Gerona. The total area is 15,306 square miles, and the population numbers 1,950,000. Catalonia is tho principal manufacturing province of the kingdom ; it is, in fact, "the Lancashire of Spain." It has never been a very peaceable portion of the Spanish monarchy, and in the coarse of the last hundred 1 years it has repeatedly taken a prominent share In Carllst and other insurrections.
