It is stated that ex-Emperor Karl intends to be a candidate at the forthcoming elections of the Austrian National Assembly. COPENHAGEN, December IG.It is reported from Munich that Switzerland has refused to allow the ex-Emperor Karl to reside in the Confederation, in view of Holland's difficulties over th© ex-Kaiser's sojourn there.

A telegram from .Budapest, states that during the war 11,400 persons were co ailed and sentenced to death, while 3700 were pardoned. UKRAINIAN TROOPS SURROUND PRZEMYSL. (Australian and N.Z. Dispatches from Vladivostok state that differences between General Semenoff, the Cossack leader, and Admiral Kolchak, anti-Bolshevik Director at Omsk, have been adjusted through tho efforts of the French and British. An English correspondent at Cracow says that "Poland is slipping back into the conditions of tho Middle Ages. Tho Bolshevists gutted Count Potocki's chateau in Russian Poland. It! is-reported tliat a hundred ppoplo were killed in tho fight.
