RECORD DIVING.
(TSESS JkASOCIATIOX TXLSGBA3I.) . AUCKLAND, December 17. A diving suit, invented by F. At". Walters, of Auckland, was tested in Hnnraki Ouli". The inventor, with the suit on, descended to a depth of thirtytwo and a half fathoms, which, is reported to be a world's record for diving with that kind of apparatus.
A visitor Tvbo arrived' at Berne recently from tho Ukraine stated that Ukrainian farmers from one end of the 1 country i o the other have been made furious by the news that the scientific Germans are stripping away ill© thick layer of black earth to which the Ukraine owes its fertility. AVhole trainloads of this soil have been sent to Germany. Exaggerated as tho fear may be, the ignorant Ukrainian peasant was afraid that the Germans were going to grab tho whole country and send ib off to Germany. .
