The crowds ,of picnickers that visited Lyttolton Harbour resorts yesterday showed that these places have lost nono of their charm for holiday-makers since previous years. The morning trains arrived, from ChristcJiuroh with largo complements of pnesengpie, the majority of whom wero ferried across tho harbour to enjoy a. day's outing at Governor's Bay, Purau, Diamond Harbour,' Corsair Bay, and other resorts. MAGISTRATE'S COURT. At the Lyttelton Magistrate's Court yesterday, before Mr F. G. Norton, J.P., Herbert Pring was charged with the theft,' in July last, of a quantity of silk, valued afe £33, from tho steamer Taimii, wMlo in transit botwoen Wellington and iiyttclton. Pring was arrested on Saturday by Detectives Gfbeon and Quartermain. Some of "tho silk was recovered. Accused was remanded to appear at Christchurch on Friday, bail being allowed, self ,in £100 and one surety of £100. The horse, which was att&cbod to a irap, bolted, from the gasworks, and while passing, the poet office, Beecrofi, is trying to stop, the animal, was knocked down by a wheel of the trap. He received attention from Dr. Newell.
