N.S.W. BUDGET.

Mr Holman delivered his Budget in the Legislative Assembly, estimated that the receipts for 1918-19 would total £22,793,000, and the payments £22,775,000. He stated that al.though, as a result of the Btrike, the railway revenue bad decreased £814,000. the fact that at the closing of the year there was a surplus indicated a definite flnancial recovery. Ihe Government would not oppose additional taxation this year. COMPULSORY VOTING. MELBOURNE, August 23. In the Assembly Mr Cotter introduced a Bill to provide for compulsory voting at State elections. SHIPBUILDING ENTERPRISE. SYDNEY,' August 23. The Wallace Power Boat Company laid the first keel of the Australian wooden fleet.
