DISPUTE AT BLACKBALL

GRJ3YMOUTH, August 12. The Blackball Miners' Union decided by ballot to-day not to work until a local dispute is settled. T WELLINGTON, August 12. Referring to a telegram from Christchurch on .Saturday, Sir James Allen says that the report, as published, might pivc the impression that the Go-ve-rnmeut had been considering tbo matter of taking over all the coal mines. However, that proposal had not been in his mind when replying to the Christchurch Union. He* was referring only to possible help bv the Government in arranging si conference between representatives of the miners and the owners. ; IVAIHI, August 12. At a nublic meeting convened by the Waibi Miners' Union, Mr "W. E. Parry, secretary of the Qpal Miners' Federation, gave an addrebs on the coal crisis» and tne following resolution was passed: "That this meeting objects to the attitude of the Coalmine Owners' Association, in refusing to meet representatives of the Miners' Federation, and asks the Government to assort; J' 9 rights, and to safeguard the public terest by calling the parties to a conference with a view to an amicable settlement of the question in dispute*
