MEETING OF COMMITTEE,

A meeting of the Prisoners of War Committee was held yesterday morning. Mr A. Boyle presiding. Mr E. Nordon reported that an effort wquld be made in Ashburton. Mr P. L. Hallenstein reported that Mr Beswick and he had drafted a lettor to bo forwarded to firms and companies. On the suggestion of Mr Nordon, it was decided to forward n. special letter to the Lyttelton Harbour Board.

The chairman reported that Mr L. M. Isitt, M.P., and himself had given addresses at Addington yards, ana Mr Geo. T. Booth arid nimself had spoken at llangiora. The addresses by Messrs Isitt and Booth had done much good in bringing the appeal beforo farmers and others.

It was decided to approach the C.J.C. for the use of one of its rooms for the purposes of headquarters. The secretary reported that subscription? to date totalled £2900 18s 2d. Mr J. Dodds, Hanmer Springs, wrote detailing the steps taken m the township and district to obtain subscriptions, and hoped that they would be able to Bend a fairly largo sum for such a good cause.
