CALEDONIAN SOCIETY.

An innovation in connexion -with, the Caloflomau Society has boon introduced in tho holding, on alternate Wednesdays, of a dance and ciu-d purty. This has b&en necessitated by the largo increase in membership, ruid th.3 difficulty in providing social amusement for till on ono night. Inst night. Present—Mr F. Christian (chairman). Mrs J. Clark, Messrs Winny, Longford, Hulme, and Homy. Tho Board of Education stated that supplies of coal would be protected as far as poeaiblo. It wasi decided "to ask the Board to do 350 yards of asphalting in the school grounds. The chairman and Messrs Xiangford and Hulmo wcro appointed to act with representatives of the Borough Council, BoaTd of Education, and Domain Board, for tho purpose of selecting a suitable cite for « school at South ' New Brighton. Messrs Winny and Longford T/ero appointed a visiting committee for 1 tho month. Tho headmaster reported that tho main school roll was 508 and "the side i; cclioo! roll 56, the average attendances bo- ' ing 462 and 49 respectively. It wa« decided that tho children in Standards IV., V., and VI. should take part in tho Arbor Day celebrations. It was decided to ask the Board to extend the present coal shed, supply twenty loads of clay, and trees for planting on Arbor Day. •
