MEETING OF COMMITTEE
The Prisoners' of War Committ«oniet yesterday, Mr H. J. Beswick presiding over a good attendance.
The chairman reported that the toceipts to date had been £2278 19s 2d. llecent donations included a cheque of .■£■ so from Mr E. A. Broughton, and a promise of £10 10s from Mr H. 0. D. Mourns. Later, he reported that the New Zealand Farmers' Co-op. Association had given £100. Promises of assistance were received from Marlborough and Tiinaru.
It was decided that.Mr J. A. Flesher and the secretary be appointed a subcommittee to draw up xi letter appealing for funds, copies to be sent to various business firms and companies in and around the city. Mr E Nordon was delegated to interview prominent Ashburton residents in connexion with the effort to raise funds.
