GREYMOUTH, May 21

The election campaign is now in full swing. Mr Holland's friends are not so confident as they were last week. Urgent S.O.S. calls have been sent out, and tho Hon. J. T. Paul, M.L.C., and Mr A. Walker, M.P., of Ihmedin, will arrive on Thursday night. There will be ft big Labour demonstration on Saturday, and a number of speakers will advocate Mr Holland's cause. Mr Coates has mapped out a Jjeavy programme for himself, and this will enable him to cover the greater part of the district.

the supplementary roll for the Grey by-eloction has been printed, and contains 942 names. A similar list was compiled in 1917. These, together with 'the main roll of 1914, bring the frnnX index number up to 9334. About 1200 names, however, have boon struck off, leaving (on pn per) 8161 voters in the electorate. Further allowances, of course, have to bo made for departures from the district, and also for those who have left for unknown, climes, whero ft is not prophesied they will bo esteemed with tho ballot. If 6000 electors go to the poll on Wednesday week in. the Grev district, it will bo considered fairly heavy polling, taking all the circumstances into account. At tha last election tho number of votes recorded in the Grey district m 0509, Mr P. C. Webb's majority overnis then opponent being 980 votes.
