SUPREME COURT.
CIVIL SITTINGS. (Before his Honour Mr Justice Herdman.) The civil sessions wero resumed yesterdav. MOTOR-CAR AXD MOTOR-CYCLE COLLISION. Henry While (Mr Johnston) claimed £300 general damages, £150 loss of wages, ana £36 12s hospital expenses, from Michael J. Corrigan, retired farmer, Dallington (Mr Raymond, K.C., with him Mr Wright). The claim arose out of a collision between defendant's motor-car and plaintiff's motor-cycle, on July Sth, 1917, near the intersection of Gloucester street and Stanmore road. Mr S. P. Smith whs- chosen foreman of the .jury. The hearing was not concluded when the Court adjourned till 10 a.m. today.

MAINTENANCE
William MeCool was charged with failing to maintain a child in a Receiving Home. Ho was ordered t-o pay maintenance at the rato of 3s per week. George Lewis Ostler applied for the revision oi' an order made under tho Destitute Persons Act. The order was fixed at 5s per week. A. L. P. Gibbens (Mr Sargent) was proceeded against by his wife, Ethel .Mary Gibbons (Mr Cuningham), for separation and maintenance, an order for 15s per week was made, the question of separation being left over until August 20th. Percy Oscar Olliffc (Mr Salter) f was proceeded against by Lilv Stuart Olli/fe (Mr Cuningham) for maintenance An order for the payment of 37s Od per week -was made.

For riding his motor-cyclo at- night without a light, Cecil Harding was fined 10s, with 7s costs.

At tlie Supremo Court to-day, Martha Hitchons, formerly clcrlc to tho Woodrillo County Council, who lia<l pleaded guilty to misappropriating £060, tli*> property of that body, canio up for sontelice. Counsel said she had hitherto borne a pood character. She was a single woman, and a few years ago gave birth 10 a child. Two men hod threatened to expose Jior, and she gave them money to prevent the exposure. One man was' killed at tho front, and the other died recently in Woodville. The prisoner was remanded for further enquiries.
