JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS.

The celebrations in connexion with tho commemoration of the 50th anniversary ot tne foundation of tho Mother House.and scuools of Our Lady of Missions, in Lower Hiijh. street, Christchurch, were commenced on Saturday afternoon. Thero was a. very large gathering of past and present pupils of the schools and their friends in tho big school hall, and there were also present his Lordship Bishop Brodie, and a representative gathering of the clergy ana laity of tho diocese. The proceedings commenced with a musical programme, excellently given, the performers being Mrs J. H. Jarman, and Misses M. Berry, K. Murphy, C. Nildey, Mahon, M. O'Connor, J. Cullen, M. Barker, M. Wilson, and J. "Wilson.

I Bishop Brodie, in hig address, congratulated the Sisters of the Mission on the great and noble work carried out by them and the Order since its inception in tho Christchurch diocese. Much had been accomplished in furthering the interests, both of religion and education, and he prayed thaAhe blessing of God would bo as Ifoerally bestowed upon the work in the future as it had been in the past. In the course of his speech liishop Brodio roiorrea to the proposed new building at the College, and he said that already a sum of £400 had been subscribed towards it.

Other speeches were mado bv Dean Regnault, of St. Mary's, Dr. O'Brien, and Messrs H. 11. Loughnan, and J. lv. Havward. M r W. Dohbs, iun., spoko on behalf of the past pupils of the school.

A veiy handsomo framod illuminated address was then presented to the Sisters by Miss M. O'Connor, on behalf of the past pupils and friends, and both she, and *\lrs Lee, of Siminor referred m eulogisticJerms to the work carried out by the Sisters.

The Rev. Dr. Kennedy, administrator, responded on behalf of the Sisters. . Yesterday special sen-ices mrn held in honour of the commemoration. At tne * o clock Mass a gonoral communion was celebrated, at which past and present pupils wore present. it II a.m. a solemn High Mass was* celobratecl by the Bishon. assisted by the Cathedral clergy. Haydn's Imperial Mass w« s sun £5 by a full choir, the music being played by Mr Hiscocks. Tn tho evening tbo Bishor> gave an address on the work done by the Sister£ood m the diocese during tho past "years. There were very congregations at all services.
