An East Africa official report states: '"There was severe lighting on May sth westward of Nanungo, whero tho oulk of the German force is concentrated. A small body of the King's African R'ifles surprised an important German camp,, entered it, and set the huts cn fire.
The enemy strongly counter-attack-ed, heavily engaging our force all day at very olose quarters. ''We eventually completely defeated the enemy, driving him off to the northward with severe losses. "General von Lettow Vorbeck commanded the enemy force. "Oup convergent movement cn Nanungo continues."
